Saggy Baggy
When you start to lose weight you seem to melt from the top down and gravity does its thing. I feel like a saggy baggy elephant and it is only going to get worse.
Cycling with Children
This afternoon we went to the lake and took all the bikes with us. Eden was helping Ethne with her training wheels and trying to teach her how to ride while I took the older two for a ride. They were determined to outride me. My 9 year old and 7 year old can ride faster and harder than me. I was huffing and puffing up the hills (slopes really) and they just whizzed by me "See you mum!" It was a challenge and I can't wait until I can do the same to them. Just give me time.
Tomorrow we are going to a local festival so other than walking I will not be doing any other exercise. Monday is a public holiday so the gym will be closed. If it is a fine day we may go bushwalking or riding. Unsure yet.

Friday - Double exercise
I went for a bike ride with Eden around the quarry - I didn't think I was going to make it. There are lots of hills and it is quite challenging. I am proud of myself though as I did it and only had to walk up one hill. I am looking forward to doing the challenge again and seeing my improvements each time I ride this circuit.
Eden did it effortlessly as he rides to work and is much fitter but I am still happy with my effort.
In the afternooon I went to the gym and did my weights. I am trying to make sure I do weight training 3 times a week. Weights are very important to speed up my metabolic process. I have a slow metabolism and am insulin resistant so I need lots of help.
It went well but I am looking forward to my PT session on Tuesday to talk about my exercise and how I can tweak it.

Food
I haven't written much about food in my blog and that is because I am going really well. As you know I am doing WW and I am on 24 points. I am having no problems keeping within this limit and am really enjoying the range and variety of food available to me.
Of course there are foods that I am choosing not to eat. Una made cupcakes the other day and they were delicious. I know because I had one - a whole 6 points worth but I made sure I remained within my points limit for the day and I chose to only have one.
It is my birthday on Tuesday and I am making a sponge cake to celebrate. I am also having a baked chicken dinner and a WW cheesecake for dessert. It will be pretty high in points but I am determined to keep within my limits for the day. I will have bonus points if I need to use them. Normally we would have chinese for dinner to celebrate a birthday but I don't want to blow my points out of the water. I am doing so well and I want to continue.

Gym Class
On Thursday morning I decided to be brave and went to a fitness class at the gym. As I live in a tiny town of only about 2,000 people the gym is tiny too. There were only three other women there and the instructor so it wasn't too intimidating. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be . I guess my fitness has been improving over the last 4 weeks.

5%
This week I lost another 1.5kgs so I am now 118.8kgs and have reached my 5% goal. I am really happy that I am going so well. I went for a walk down at the lake this morning and I was worried about the time so I really pushed it. I halved the time it usually takes. I also did about 3 lots of jogging. It was only for about a minute each time but I am getting there. I think the running will take me quite some time.
While I was walking, two stray dogs came bounding towards me. I was so scared. I have had a few bad experiences with dogs. Fortunately they were friendly and after saying hello they continued on their way. I think my heart pounding with fear probably burnt up a few extra kilojoules.

Tomorrow
Weigh in tomorrow. As I lost 1.6kgs last week I am only expecting a small loss this week. I have done really well with my food and exercise so I am feeling positive about my progress.
I am going to the gym tomorrow morning for another weight training session which I really enjoy. I had hoped to get some more exercise in but I have to be home for a courier pickup in the afternoon.
The children are going to the gym tomorrow also. I have booked them in for a weekly session designed for children. I want them to be more active and to value the benefits of exercise.
Dougal and Una were outside all afternoon on their bikes and then on the trampoline so they are already doing some exercise. Trampolining is hard work. I got on a couple of days ago and could only manage to jump for about a minute before I was really huffing and puffing and bending over.

I am a Cyclist
Well I went for my bike ride today and the best news is - I didn't fall off. In fact I rode for 40 minutes and gave every gear a very good workout. It was really great. My legs and bum are quite sore though.
Eden and I are going to go riding again on Friday morning. This time we will ride around the quarry here in town and see how I go.

Bike Riding
Eden and I are going bike riding tomorrow. I am a bit wibbly wobbly at the moment but we are going to ride at the lake and it is relatively flat there so I won't have to worry about gears as well as my balance.
We have been walking at the lake and the children have been riding their bikes. Una is still learning and is going really well but is unsure of how to handle problems when they crop up. Yesterday she and Dougal were riding along and she was getting a bit to close to him. He yelled at her to move and she was trying to move across when disaster struck. She ran over a bird. Poor darling she was so distressed and started crying. The bird was flip flopping all over the place trying to get its balance. Eden picked it up and spread out its wings to check for damage and popped it in some long grass nearby. Fortunately it wasn't hurt and shortly afterwards it flew away. Una was very relieved. I was so surprised as I expected the bird to get out of her way but it was a fat pigeon and probably a bit too lazy to move quickly. That is one for the family memory books.

The Gym
I haven't been to the gym for two weeks because of my sore ear but I went back today and I am glad I did. I did some weights and a bit of cardio but not too much as I was really tired. I had already been for a big walk this morning and I was a bit weary. I have started to run a little. It feels really weird and at the moment I can't go far before I feel like I am going to keel over. I am sure that if I persist it will get better. My goal is to be able to run for 30 minutes.
I have decided to take some personal training sessions. At the moment I can only afford to do this once a fortnight but it should be enough to keep me steered in the right direction. I want to make sure I am getting the most out of my exercise time.
This week I am going to do resistance training 3 times and keep up with the walking and running.
